A smart city is a sustainable city that utilizes digitalisation and new technology to make life easier for its residents, visitors and local businesses. The way to make Stockholm a smart and connected city is through innovation, openness and connectivity.

In April 2017 the City Council adopted the Strategy for Stockholm as a Smart and Connected City that was developed in dialogue with the residents. The goal of the strategy is for Stockholm to become economically, ecologically and socially sustainable through innovative digital services, openness and connectivity.
